The kings of New York glam—with their ambiguous and suggestive aesthetics and following in the footsteps of Great Britain’s T.Rex—were responsible for glam rock having its own chapter in the history of the Big Apple’s rock scene. New York Dolls have performed twice on the stages of Azkena Rock Festival, in 2004 and 2006, when the festival was taking its first steps. And although it was intuited that this was a special event, it was hard to imagine that it would celebrate its 20th Anniversary as a true benchmark in the history of live rock.
