AZKENA ROCK FESTIVAL 2011

In 2011 theAzkena Rock Festival reached its tenth anniversary, a decade of live rock and roll which was celebrated in style with a privileged line up and new extra activitiesin Mendizabala as well as in the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz. Ozzy Osbourne, Queens Of The Stone Age, Brian Setzer, Paul Weller, Thin Lizzy, Primus, Gregg Allman, Eels and Rob Zombie were some of the most important bandsthat passed through Mendizabala, while outside the festival site Mike Farris was the star of a very special concert in Santa Maria cathedral. There were also some talks on music in theArtium museum; the pupils from the music conservatory also formed part of the festival when they prepared a concertwith versions of some classic rock songs especially for the occasion; Pep Bonetunveiledhis photographic exhibitionabout Motörhead and, of course, the Plaza de la Virgen Blanca (White Virgen square)was once again the setting for the morning concerts, brought to us by Rob Kingsley, James Hunter and Gregg Allman. With all of this and many other special events, the ARF 2011 succeeded once againin beating its own recordgathering 55,580 people over the three days.
